On Sunday 27th of March evening during the honoring ceremony at the French Institute in Baghdad, the Iraqi artist, Awatef Naim, was honored with the medal of Arts and Literatures from the French Republic; In recognition of her cultural and artistic achievements in the Iraqi theater.
This honor coincided with the presentation of a theatrical performance written and directed by Dr. Awatef Naim entitled “Godut, Where Are You?” It is quoted from the famous work, “Waiting for Godot” by Samuel Beckett.
At the end of the ceremony, the Director General of Public Cultural Relations Department: Mr. Falah Hassan Shaker, presented a bouquet of roses; In appreciation of her pioneering role in Iraqi theater art.
It is worth noting that Awatif Naim is an Iraqi artist, actress, director and academic researcher, who hold a doctorate in theater directing.
She wrote and directed many cultural and dramatic programs and series for Baghdad Radio. She also wrote many series and dramatic evenings for Iraq TV, and for dramatic production companies. She continues to write reviews, and studies in the field of theater in Iraqi and Arab newspapers.
